As reported by time.com, a study published in The Lancet found a link between people who worked more than 55 hours per week and the risk of cardiovascular disease. People who worked more than 55 hours per week had a 33% risk of stroke and 13% were at risk for coronary heart disease compared to those who worked 35-40 hours per week.

It also deals with a number of habits that accompany overtime work, such as sitting for hours and the stress experienced by working overtime. The combination of these conditions can then be a major factor causing stroke or cardiovascular disease.

If the job requires you overtime then set aside a few minutes to rest, can with closed eyes and lie down for a moment to recharge and refresh the mind for 1 hour.
